Why Stock Brakes Fall Short on a Tuned or Loaded Super Duty

From the factory, F-250 and F-350 brake systems are spec'd to handle a stock truck at rated capacity, not a tuned diesel with an upgraded exhaust pulling a max-weight gooseneck over mountain passes. If your 6.7 has had any power work done, or if you're regularly in that upper tow range, you've likely already noticed: stock brakes run hot, fade under sustained load, and wear faster than they should. Upgraded rotors and high-friction compound pads address both problems. Drilled and slotted rotor options shed heat faster and resist the glazing that causes fade.
