For Powerstroke, Duramax & Cummins Trucks
A seized caliper doesn't care about your schedule. One side starts dragging, the truck pulls, the pads wear crooked, and a simple tire rotation turns into a brake job.
Most parts counters hand you a remanufactured caliper and a core charge. You're paying for somebody else's old casting, cleaned up and resealed. Then you're waiting on your core refund after hauling the old one back.
We built something better. Doc's Zinc-Plated Brake Calipers are 100% new, fully zinc-plated, and ship with no core charge. They're available for Powerstroke, Duramax, and Cummins trucks as singles, pairs, or complete brake kits. Here's what sets them apart.
The Problem With Remanufactured Calipers
A reman caliper starts life as a used core. That core has already been through years of heat cycles, road salt, and moisture. Rebuilders clean it up, swap the seals, and send it back out. But the casting underneath is still old metal.
That's where the trouble hides. Moisture seeps under uncoated surfaces and leaves corrosion behind. Seals degrade. Service life gets shorter, and you end up pulling that caliper back off the truck a lot sooner than you planned. And you paid a core charge for the privilege.
New Steel. Zinc Finish. Zero Cores.
Every Doc's caliper is built from all-new components. Nothing is pulled from an old core. Here's what's in the box:
Full Zinc-Plate Finish
Applied to the entire caliper body and every exposed surface. Fights rust, road salt, mud, and chemicals from day one.
100% New Castings
No remanufactured parts. No degraded cores. New steel every time.
Premium Rubber Seals
New EPDM70 rubber, engineered for heat resistance and long-term durability.
New Pistons, OE-Spec Bores
Tested to meet or exceed OE specifications.
Complete Hardware
Brackets, bolts, pins, copper washers, and abutment clips included where required.
New Bleeder Screws
Installed and ready. Out of the box, onto the truck.
Every caliper is a direct bolt-on. No machining, no adapters, no modifications.
Why Zinc Plating Matters on a Diesel Truck
Your brakes live in the roughest spot on the truck. Wheel wells take water, mud, salt brine, and brake heat every single day. A painted caliper looks good new, but paint chips, and moisture works its way underneath.
Zinc works differently. It's a sacrificial coating, meaning the zinc takes the corrosion hit before the steel underneath does. That helps keep slide pins moving freely, which means fewer seized calipers and more even pad wear.
If you drive in the salt belt, tow through winter, or work your truck off the pavement, a full zinc-plated finish on your calipers is cheap insurance.
Doc's vs. Reman vs. OEM

| 100% new components | Yes | No (remanufactured) | Yes |
| Zinc-plate finish | Full plate | None to minimal | Partial only |
| No core charge | Yes | No | Yes |
| Premium rubber seals | Yes | Varies | OE spec |
| Hardware included | Full kit | Basic only | Full kit |

Bottom line: new parts, full zinc protection, and a below-OEM price, with no core to return.
One Caliper or the Whole Axle?
When a single caliper makes sense
Sometimes it's just one corner. A single caliper is the right call when:
You've got one seized or leaking caliper, spotted during a tire rotation or brake inspection.
You run a work truck or fleet and need one corner fixed fast to keep downtime short.
You do your own wrenching, you know exactly what failed, and you want a new unit, not a reman.
When a full kit is the smarter play
If your truck has miles on it and the pads and rotors are due too, do the whole axle at once. You'll only have the wheels off once, and every part is designed to work together.
Doc's caliper kits come a few ways:
Calipers only: a matched left/right pair, or all four corners.
Calipers + rotors + pads: front, rear, or 4-wheel. Calipers, rotors, pads. One order. Full axle done.
Calipers + rotors + pads + hub: front kits that add a hub assembly with a limited lifetime warranty on the hub.
Rotor and pad kits come in three setups: High Carbon rotors, Black Coat High Carbon rotors, or Drilled & Slotted rotors paired with ceramic pads. Stick with the pairing that comes in the kit. Severe-duty semi-metallic pads run with high carbon rotors, and ceramic pads run with drilled and slotted rotors. Want the upgrade setup? Check out our performance brake kits.
Signs Your Caliper Is Done
Calipers don't usually fail all at once. Watch for these:
The truck pulls to one side when you brake.
Uneven pad wear, with one pad worn way more than its partner.
Brake fluid leaking around the caliper or piston boot.
Dragging, a hot wheel, or a burning smell after a drive.
Heavy rust on the caliper body or seized slide pins.
Brakes aren't something to put off, especially with a trailer behind you. If you're seeing any of these, get it checked and replaced.

Zinc-Plated Caliper FAQs
Can't I just get a reman for less?
You can. But a reman caliper is built on an old core. Doc's calipers are 100% new, with new castings, pistons, and seals. One comeback and you've spent more than you saved.
Do I have to pay a core charge?
No. No core charge and no core to send back. You buy the caliper, you install it, you're done.
Does it come with hardware?
Yes. Brackets, abutment clips, bolts, copper washers, and new bleeder screws are included where required. It's ready to install.
Will it fit my truck?
Doc's calipers are engineered to OE specifications for a direct bolt-on fit. No machining, no adapters, no modifications. Check the fitment on each product page to match your exact year and model.
Why pay more than a generic brand?
The full zinc-plate finish protects against road salt and corrosion from day one, and it cuts down the odds of doing the job twice. That's better long-term value, whether you drive a daily or run a fleet.
Can I buy a kit instead of one caliper?
Yes. Full kits include calipers, rotors, and pads in one order, and select front kits add hub assemblies. It's a complete axle brake job with no core charge. More questions? Check out our FAQ page.
